John Long

Fairfield County is in central Ohio. The county seat is Lancaster.

John Long was born about 1774 in New Jersey. His father may have been William Long.

He moved with his family to Barree Township, Pennsylvania about 1774.

They moved on to Amanda Township, Fairfield County, Ohio in 1806.

During the War of 1812 John and Thomas Long were members of Ensign Peter Huber's Company of the Ohio militia. Also serving in this company was Corporal Joshua Cole.

In 1820 he lived in Violet Township, Fairfield County, Ohio. The household conisted of:

a man older than 45 - born before 1775
a woman between 26 and 44 - born between 1776 and 1794.
a man and a woman between 16 and 25.
a girl and a boy between 10 and 15.
a boy under 10.
